Cool the room you actually use first
The practical Hawaiʻi move is often not “whole house everything.” Start with the bedroom, office, kūpuna room, or kid room that causes the most pain, then see what the monthly kWh looks like.

- Duty cycle is the honest knob: a unit may be rated 900W, but it may not pull that continuously.
